国連アカデミック・インパクトに加盟
2021年5月20日、本学は国連アカデミック・インパクトの参加校として認定されました。
国連アカデミック・インパクト (United Nations Academic Impact)は、国連広報局のアウトリーチ部が担当するプログラムで、学位を授与する高等教育機関や研究機関が対象となり、世界各国の高等教育機関同士の連携や高等教育機関と国連との連携の促進、並びに国連に委託された業務や活動に関するプロジェクトやイニシアチブに対する高等教育機関の直接的な関与の推進などを目的とするプログラムです。
アカデミック・インパクトの加盟大学は、以下の10原則を支持し、促進させることが求められています。

- 探求、意見、演説の自由を認める
- 原則3：
- 性別、人種、宗教、民族を問わず、全ての人に教育の機会を提供する

- 世界各国の高等教育制度において、能力を育成する
- 原則6：
- 人々の国際市民としての意識を高める

- 平和、紛争解決を促す

- 貧困問題に取り組む

- 持続可能性を推進する
- 原則10：
- 異文化間の対話や相互理解を促進し、不寛容を取り除く
本学では以前より海外からの留学生や研究者の受入れ、並びに本学教職員や学生の留学やインターンシップ等を通じた海外派遣を実践しておりますが、今後それらの交流を一層拡充させるとの方針に合わせ、このたびの申請に当たっては、上記原則のうち10（異文化間の対話や相互理解を促進し、不寛容を取り除く）を支持し、促進することといたしました。
本学の国際交流活動は、2020年4月に設置した国際交流センターが中心的役割を担っておりますが、現状コロナ禍で思うような活動ができておりません。コロナの終息見通しが立たない中、コロナの影響で本学の国際交流活動が滞ることのないよう、コロナ禍に対応する新たな交流の方法を模索し、引き続き海外との交流促進に向けて取り組んで参ります。
St. Marianna University School of Medicine joined the United Nations Academic Impact
The United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) is a global program of the United Nations that promotes institutions of higher education to make association with the UN and with other higher education institutions throughout the world. The United Nations has the following 10 basic principles and encourages the UNAI participants to engage in at least one of them to support and promote the principles.

- A commitment to the principles inherent in the United Nations Charter as values that education seeks to promote and help fulfil;
- 2.
- A commitment to human rights, among them freedom of inquiry, opinion, and speech;
- 3.
- A commitment to educational opportunity for all people regardless of gender, race, religion or ethnicity;
- 4.
- A commitment to the opportunity for every interested individual to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for the pursuit of higher education;
- 5.
- A commitment to building capacity in higher education systems across the world;
- 6.
- A commitment to encouraging global citizenship through education;
- 7.
- A commitment to advancing peace and conflict resolution through education;
- 8.
- A commitment to addressing issues of poverty through education;
- 9.
- A commitment to promoting sustainability through education;
- 10.
- A commitment to promoting inter-cultural dialogue and understanding, and the “unlearning” of intolerance, through education.
Our university joined the UNAI on May 21, 2021 and chose #10 as the initial principle. We have had medical students and researchers from overseas and have sent our students and staff to study and participate in internships overseas. With the UNAI, we would like to be more active in the future to promote the UNAI principle(s) as well as our international exchange.
