Microbiology covers several aspects of virology, bacteriology, and immunology. Virological, immunological, molecular biological, and biochemical approaches are being applied for the basic researches of microbiology. We carry out investigations on the antivirals including anti-HIV, anti-influenzavirus, and anti-herpesvirus, the mechanisms of viral replication and pathogenesis induced by various viruses, the mechanisms of antibacterial agents, the susceptibility to antibacterial agents, the interactions of virus proteins with host cells, the pathogenic factors of Streptococcus, the development of non-viral vectors for gene therapy, and the examination of the clinical isolates.
